Me

I'm a PhD student at the Breakthrough Breast Cancer research lab based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, UK.

My PhD

My PhD is funded by Breakthrough Breast Cancer. I'm interested in the way that signalling through the gonadotrophin-releasing hormone receptor (GnRH-R) is involved in breast cancer, and how this may be exploited for the treatment of breast cancer. I am using high-throughput technologies and bioinformatics to  investigate the nature of this signalling and make predictions about it.

I am a molecular biologist trying to learn bioinformatic techniques (and later mathematical modelling) whilst also continuing to do 'wet lab' work, with the aim of being able to communicate ideas and results effectively between mathematicians (whose skills are becoming essential for high-throughput data analysis and modelling) and biologists. I am in the very early stages of this transition though, so still spend most of my time in the 'wet' lab
